INSTRUCTIONS ( The Daily prayer section is arranged as a "spiritual ladder" - you should start each day at point "a" then "b" etc., climbing the ladder of spiritual growth toward Christ-likeness. To customize it with your personal prayer requests, click on the "download" link above.
a. Adoration -nz04/zIoann20.htm#19"> John 20:19-29
to "Daily" section

b. Confession –nz09/z1Ioan01.htm#1"> 1 John 1:1-10 outlines the "Logos" or meaning of life: to share fellowship with God and with other believers in Christ. It is very easy, however, to fall into "prelest" - spiritual pride and self-deception, as we see in v.8. We should examine our heart daily for this sin and any other sins, confess them and thus begin each day with a clean slate.
c. Transformation –nz15/z2Kori03.htm#12"> 2 Cor.3:12-18 points us toward the goal: being transformed into the image and likeness of Christ as we fix our eyes upon His glory. Pray also for great boldness to be free from social pressure to conform to the images of this world that will pass away. "Lord Jesus Christ, Son of the living God (John 20:28-29), be merciful to me a sinner (1 John 1:6-10), and transform me into Your image and likeness (2 Cor.3:17-18)."
d. Application -nz16/zGalat05.htm#13"> Gal.5:13-26 explains in greater detail the journey toward transformation. Twice, in v.16 and v.25, St. Paul commands us to "walk in the Spirit" - let the Holy Spirit apply spiritual discipline in every area of life. Again Paul warns of twenty vices: sexual immorality, alcoholism, excessive eating, witchcraft (Greek pharmakoia - drugs), and also destructive interpersonal relationships that can actually deprive us of the Kingdom of God. Then he lists ten positive fruits of the Spirit, and lastly a warning about spiritual pride.
e. Sanctification –nz20/z1Fess04.htm#1"> 1 Thes.4:1-11 reminds us of God's will for our life: sanctification. It consists of sexual purity, control of all physical passions (alcoholism, excessive eating, drugs, tobacco, etc.), avoiding illegal or devious deals, loving one another, and earning our own living.
f. Proclamation –nz05/zDeani04.htm#7"> Acts 4:7-14 tells how St. Peter and St. John boldly proclaimed that Jesus Christ is the only Savior and Lord. But they didn't reach this level the first day or the first month of following Jesus, they had been prepared by years of spiritual discipleship and being filled with the Holy Spirit. And notice how their good works of healing the lame man provided them this opportunity to proclaim Christ.
g. Thanksgiving –nz18/zFilip04.htm#4"> Phil.4:4-7 prepares us for the next step. How? By rejoicing in the Lord, not in external circumstances, cultivating a lifestyle of moderation ("gentleness" is better translated as "moderation"), and thankfulness. Then our attitude will be right so that we can request according to God's will and be filled with God's peace that surpasses our understanding.
h. Intercession –nz03/zLuka11.htm#5"> Luke 11:5-13 relates the parable of the man who asked his neighbor for three loaves of bread to serve a friend who arrived at midnight. Intercessory prayer, asking God on behalf of others, isn't something we can launch into as a self-centered baby Christian, it takes much spiritual growth to change our focus from our own desires to the physical and spiritual needs of others. Then God will give us the best gift of all, the Holy Spirit who enables us to discern the true needs of other people.
